Welcome to my wildlife and nature photography site. I have always had an affinity for nature and wildlife and remember watching just about every documentary
on television while growing up. After high school I spend three years at Algonquin College in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and graduated with a diploma in Horticulture.
In 1995 I was hired by Rogers Television to produce a local gardening program. In 2001 I created my gardening website Mike's Back Yard Garden
and found I wanted to add photographs to enhance the information within the site. So I purchased my first SLR and taught my self about photography. My first camera was a used Canon EOS 3000 film camera. This went well for a couple of years
but got expensive getting the film processed so I decided to get a Digital SLR, after trying a couple different models I settled on a Nikon D300 with Nikon 200-400mm F4 pro lens.. From that point a whole new world of photography opened up. Suddenly just about everything was a subject no matter how large or small.
This is where my affinity for wildlife and nature re-asserted itself and I got hooked. Now the majority of my photographic subject matter is wildlife. I find it a wonderful experience being out in the forest or lake
areas seeing and capturing images of our fellow denizens of this world. I still shoot many floral images during the spring and summer when wildlife photography is slower in my area. I hope you enjoy viewing my images
as much as I enjoyed taking them.
